Becca Germasi

Age:
23
Race:
Human, Caucasian OR Emusku
Starsign:

Appearance:
Not one used to being called pretty, Becca has strong features and a slightly too large mouth. A raggedy, self-cut mop of black hair sits atop her head, shadowing dark brown eyes and a Roman nose. Standing at 5’7 (with her boots on, and you’re highly unlikely to see her without them), Becca has a sturdy build because of her years spent training with a sword in her city’s army, though she retains a fraction of the feminine grace her grandmother attempted to beat into her.

When she’s not on duty, or out at battle, Becca likes to leave her chain-mail at home because, quiet frankly, that stuff gets very heavy. Her everyday outfit usually consists of a pair of blue slacks and yellow tunic, decorated with embroidery around the hems. Around this get-up, at strategic points, she wears a minimum amount of brown, leather armour. Just in case. The aforementioned boots also take place in Becca’s everyday life, and are a strained, slightly scruffy, brown affair. Thankfully, these are mostly hidden under her pants.

Becca is not a jewellery person. She only wears one piece, this being a thin, silver chain around her neck with a pendent, the stone being a deep blue in colour. Aside from this, she has a pair of sturdy, brown gloves she usually wears in case of combat and a brown belt around her waist holding her scabbard.

Personality:
While she grew up under the care of her grandmother, said grandmother was a war veteran. This and the fact that she entered the Terminian forces at a young age have lead Becca to grow up something of a tomboy, mainly due to lack of feminine influence. She has a strong dislike for dresses and other such garb, finding them restrictive, though can fumble her way into formal clothing if need be. She won’t enjoy it though. I’m warning you now.

Otherwise, Becca is your typical female soldier. She can drink men under the table, laugh at their more raunchy jokes and is generally respected, yet maintains a level of restraint suitable for her station. She’s a people person, enjoying the company of others and cannot remember ever making a serious enemy. Even with those of higher class she’s rather popular because she can show a level of tact yet maintain her honesty. Oh yes, she’s honest, but she’ll do her best not to hurt your feelings. Generally optimistic, Becca moves at speed in most things in life, as if she’s trying to cram as much into it as possible before she goes. So far, she’s doing quite well.

History:
While Becca’s history is eventful, it’s not particularly traumatic. Being raised by her grandmother after her parents died in battle, Becca was fed stories of the glory of the armed forces from a very young age. It was clear from a young age that Becca would be following both grandmother and parents into the army and she spent far more of her childhood playing with swords rather than dolls. Her natural, perhaps inherited, skill with a sword earned her a place in the recruits when she was fifteen, and her level head and friendly personality made it easy for her to advance in the ranks.

It was only after she earned the right to lead a small squad of her own that Becca caught the eye of the nobility. Her easy, friendly manner combined with her sharp mind made her the perfect candidate for a diplomat. While some accused her of being a favourite, and some accused of even more degrading arrangements, Becca accepted the role with her head hold high, proud that she’d been given such a privilege. Of course, one doesn’t jump from soldier to diplomat in a day, and her mentors decided that Becca really needed to learn about the world before being taught the intricacies of her new profession. So she was sent away from the city she’d grown up in, given the temporary role of royal messenger with excesses; in other words, sent out to deliver mail and given leave to divert from her course on the way home. The plan was for her to learn about other kingdoms and races around the world and it was a task she took up with vigour.

This takes her to her twenty-third year. While three years of travelling doesn’t make you an expert, Becca certainly knows a thing or two about most major cities, and quite a few minor ones, through her travels. She knows the manners for both high and low born, where to carry gold and where not to, and is working on local dialects and languages. It’s a slow process but one she’s taken a liking to. One her most recent journey, however, she fell in with a young Yarrian named Calintz and eventually accompanied him to his hometown of Elsa. Through much confusion and surprise she found herself mated to him and, while certainly not complaining about the situation, she’s still getting used to the idea.

Family:
Both Becca’s parents died in battle when she was young, leaving her without siblings and under the care of her grandmother, Roxetta. Rather than angsting about this fact, Becca is proud of her parents sacrifice for Termina.

Occupation:
Soldier and diplomat-in-training

Likes:
Soups and stews, thick bread, ale, training, warm beds
Dislikes:
Sleeping wet, going hungry, caves
Fears:
Insects, dying before she’s tried everything

Weapon:
Like the majority of soldiers, Becca is armed with a broad-sword, a relatively simple, two-handed affair with thin, spiralling patterns engraved down the blade’s surface. The hilt is un-adorned, and the pummel is wrapped in stained leather for grip.
